Hi, I’m Whalen, and I’m so glad you stopped by to read about me! I traveled from out of state with my siblings, and I’m loving my new life with my foster family. Every day feels like a new adventure – especially when it involves exploring the fenced yard or heading out for a walk. I love sniffing everything along the way (it’s the best part!), and it helps me happily tire myself out.
I’m a very gentle, sweet boy with the softest velvet ears and big brown eyes that everyone says are impossible to resist. I’ve been told I’m quite handsome too – but I’m much more proud of being a good boy.
I’m doing wonderfully with training and routines. My kennel is a safe, cozy place where I relax and nap with my favorite toys, especially at night. My potty training is going great – I know outside is where I’m supposed to go, and I even let my foster family know when I need to head out. I already know commands like “sit,” “wait,” “place,” and “kennel,” and I patiently sit and wait when my kennel door opens until I’m invited out. I also sit nicely at mealtime and have excellent manners. Walks are one of my strong suits – I’m calm, polite, and don’t pull on the leash. I truly aim to please.
I live with two foster dog siblings, Ruth (3) and Murphy (1). Murphy is close to my age, and we are best buddies! We love to wrestle, chase each other around the yard, and make silly noises together. Ruth helps show us both how to be the very best dogs. I’ve also met kids ages 6 and up, and I think they’re pretty great — I’m gentle, curious, and kind when meeting new people.
When it comes to other dogs, I’m typically easygoing and submissive, and I warm up quickly. In fact, it usually takes me about five seconds to decide I’d like to curl up in a new human’s lap. Yes, I am a champion snuggler! Evening couch time is one of my favorite parts of the day, whether I’m piled on top of the pillows or tucked in close to my people. I’ve even met a dog-savvy cat and did very well respecting their space. When I got a little too curious, I was easily redirected back to my toys.
