Hi, I’m Wednesday. 🖤
(But my friends sometimes call me “Weddy,” which I think is pretty cute.)
I have the sweetest little cookie patch on my chest and a longer snout with a tiny nose and big eyes that basically say, “please just love me.” I came all the way from Texas with my littermates after we were abandoned, but don’t worry – a nice rescue took great care of us, so I arrived safe, clean, and ready to find my forever home.
I’m a shy girl at first, but once I feel comfortable, my goofy, playful side really comes out. I LOVE playing with dogs and people! And if someone tells me it’s time to settle down, I’m a good listener – I’ll just grab a toy or take a nap. I’m still building my confidence, especially in new situations, but with a little patience and encouragement, I’m learning that everything is going to be okay.
Cuddling is one of my favorite things!
When it’s time to sleep, I want to be as close as possible – snuggled up with another dog or my humans, usually with my head tucked right on your chest or neck. I’m basically a tiny, warm, slightly wiggly scarf.
Food is my true love language!
I love eating. Meals, treats, snacks – yes please to all of it. I’m very motivated to learn, especially if snacks are involved. Right now, I’m also learning that socks, shoes, and other smelly treasures are not toys (even though they seem like excellent ones). I’m teething, so my absolute favorite thing is a frozen rope soaked in a little chicken broth – amazing. I also love rope toys, textured balls, and anything I can safely chew on. Kongs are pretty great too!
One of my special talents? I like to announce when people enter the room. Even if I know you, I just want to make sure everyone is aware that – well – you’re here. Important job, right?
I take a lot of cues from the other dogs around me. If they go outside, I go. If they nap, I nap. If they play, I’m ready! I’m currently working on “sit,” “kennel,” and “leave it,” and I will happily practice for a tasty reward.
I live with three dogs right now (ages 9, 10, and 11). The older ones are pretty chill, which is fine by me. The youngest sometimes gets a little loud and excited trying to get me to play, and that can make me a bit nervous – but when things are calm, I’m happy to play all day! I haven’t met any cats yet, but since I’m a submissive girl, my foster human thinks I’d probably do just fine. I also haven’t met kids yet. I think I might be a little nervous at first, but if they’re patient and let me come to them slowly, I think we could be friends.
I’m still working on potty training, and I’m making really good progress! I understand that outside is the place to go – I’m just still figuring out how to tell my humans in time. I sleep through the night (even in my kennel!), especially if I can see you nearby. During the day, I’ll go into my kennel for a treat, but I’m still learning to feel totally comfortable in there. If I know you’re home but I can’t see you, I might bark or cry a little. I just don’t want to miss out on you!
When I’m out with other dogs, I’m much more relaxed – even if you leave the room. Having a dog friend really helps me feel safe and confident. Because I can be vocal in my kennel, an apartment might not be the best fit for me right now while I’m still learning.
A few things I’m still figuring out: I don’t like being chased (it’s scary when big humans run at me), and car rides can make me nervous because I worry I might not come back. I’m also a typical teething puppy – I might try to chew on socks, shoes, or even sneak a sniff at something yummy on the table if I get the chance.
But I’m trying really hard. I’m sweet, gentle, and learning more every day. I love being outside, running around, and playing with my dog friends – I could chase them around the yard for hours! I also love water – although I’ll be honest, not all of it makes it into my mouth, so you might find a few splashes around my bowl.
My foster human says I’m making wonderful progress and that I’m a very good girl who just needs a patient, loving home to help me keep growing. Having another dog would be amazing for me – I learn so much from them and feel much braver when I’m not alone.
So if you’re looking for a soft, snuggly, slightly shy, snack-loving puppy who just wants to be close to you and learn how to be the best girl – I’m right here. 🐾💗
