I'm ready for my new family!

Troopa

I'm Available

Hi, my name is Troopa and I have beautiful chocolate fur and cute “angry eyebrows”! I love grabbing a bully stick and sitting in the smallest donut bed with my favorite cat friend. I am a Parvo survivor! I was found in a kennel in a park with my sibling and brought to Minneapolis Animal Control. My sibling didn’t make it; I had a hard fight. I love playing tuggie with my humans and snuggling and chewing on toys on comfy dog beds.

Since I was a Parvo survivor and was emaciated (most likely prior to being rescued), I have been working through some food guarding “issues”. My foster mom doesn’t really even consider it much of an issue anymore because we have been working through it. Things to know about me though – I should eat in peace. Because I have had food insecurity in the past, my foster mom likes to feed me in a slow feeder to make sure I eat at a good pace. I should eat away from other dogs or in my kennel, it makes me feel more comfortable. I also need strong leadership from both dog friends and people. I need a confident and fair dog sibling and/or humans as I continue to learn how to be respectful and grow up into a wonderful adult. I had a rough beginning but that doesn’t stop me and I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me, rather just continue to teach me how to be the best doggie I can be.

I am mostly potty trained. I’m still learning how to signal when I’m in the house, but I keep my kennel clean all the time. When you put me by the door and say “potty” I go on command! Sometimes you have to remind me to poop though – I really hate these cold days and want to come back in as soon as possible. I am kennel trained and sleep in my kennel at night. I have mastered “sit” and “off”. I’m just learning how to walk on a leash as I had been in quarantine for a long time, but my foster mom thinks I’ll enjoy it when the weather is nice. I love playing tuggie, but I really need to learn boundaries and how to share better, so it’s not a recommended play unless you can continue to teach me “give and take.” I also really love just grabbing a chew toy or a stuffy and laying on a bed to play by myself. I’m quite the independent lady at times.

It is imperative I continue working with a human at training classes and socialization, though my foster mom believes this is a must for any dog and their handler. I am incredibly motivated by food and will do tricks for food anytime. I LOVE FOOD and will do almost anything – that includes counter surfing and stealing snacks. 🙂

I would do best in an active home who has had a dog before. I’m not complicated, but I do have my “quirks” if you will. My foster mom says I’m the most confident puppy she’s ever met – this can be awesome, but also challenging at times. I need a strong leader to keep teaching me the ways of “dog”.  A consistent schedule and a confident and fair dog sibling would help me be the best dog ever.

I have not met any small children yet, but I would do better with older kids. I’m still in a slight “velociraptor” state and can use my mouth when I’m overly excited. I currently live with three elderly and old cats. I am usually ok with them, but when I get excited I start chasing them. So I really need someone to tell me I can’t do that. I would do best with dog savvy cats. I also live with four dogs, three bully/Pitbull mixes and one Husky mix. They range in age from 3-9 years old. I do best with my big bully brother who will tell me when to knock it off if I’m being a pest. I do not do well with super bossy and dominant energy. I need a very balanced and well mannered sibling to continue learning how to be a great dog. I am a very confident puppy. I wouldn’t say I’m dominant, but if I don’t like something, I will let you know.

Other fun facts about me:
Why are you the very best dog in the whole world?
I’m the best doggie in the world because I’m so happy and appreciative of my people that take care of me. I can’t wait to see you every day. I give the best tail wags!

What are some of your favorite toys?
I love bully sticks (foster mom gets the Cadet ones from Costco) and squeaky toys.

Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
I’m 50/50 play and cuddles.

What makes your body wiggle and your tail wag harder than anything?
Seeing my favorite people makes my tail wag so fast!

Give me a description of your dream forever family.
My dream family is active and understanding of a dog’s needs. I’m a great puppy and love to exercise and interact with you, and I love learning and training. I would do great at some sort of dog sport. Could this be you?
