Hi! My name is Stuart, but you can call me Stu, Stu-man, or Stu-mania (if you are feeling adventurous). Man-o-woman have I had a tough go of it in my short life! I was left outside in a crate to brave the elements, and I was starved. But with focus, commitment, and a big-ole CAN DO attitude I was able to escape until a nice lady at a boarding facility took me in. Then my healing journey began.

I was taken in by my current foster family and I have been living my best life ever since! I really like to nap, in fact there is nothing I love more than snuggling up next to my people and taking a nice long snooze. I also love playing with other dogs and do my best to learn from them since my puppy days were taken away from me. Currently my best friend is my foster sister, a 45 lb. Pittie. We wrestle, play, and nap together every day. What a life! I especially like when we cuddle together and I curl right into her. My absolute favorite toy is my Kong. I throw that thing around, pounce on it, and then roll around on my back because I’m so excited!

Crate training is still a work in progress, but I recently had my first full night’s sleep in there without asking my foster parents to check the closet for monsters – they were very proud! I do really well at night and might wake up once or twice, but once you reassure me that I’m safe, I go right back to sleep. I get nervous when my people leave during the day, but I’m working on feeling safe. I am working on potty training and am improving each and every day. If my foster parents pay attention to when I sit at the top of the stairs, I go right away when they take me out!

As far as good behaviors go, I gotta tell ya, I am pretty smart! I know how to “sit”, and to wait patiently while my foster parents clean the dishes. I am also learning how to lay down and I am SO close! I am just beginning to learn to walk on leash and although I start out nervous, once I get going, I love it! I just need a little more repetition and some additional training to help me be the best pup I can be. Remember, I was kept in a crate outside in the cold, so you need to remind me I’m safe (a warm sweater when it’s cold helps!).

I’m a pup of simple needs. I require routine, training, a little patience, and a lot of love to be the best boy that I can be. I would absolutely love to take training classes with you and learn more good behaviors! Could you be my forever family?
