I'm ready for my new family!

Sky

I'm Available

Hi everyone, my name is Sky. I am a cute, petite pittie weighing about 35 lbs and I am super strong. I am all black with beautiful, rich brown eyes. I have a little bit of white on my chest and a random white toe here and there. My best feature though has to be my ears! They stand up high at alert all the time, and even when I'm relaxing they still don't flop over. They like to flop in the breeze when I run and make me look so stinking cute. My foster mom says I look like a little vampire bat sometimes because I get a little crinkle between my eyes. I also never ever ever stop wagging my tail! I even wag it when I'm eating my food, it just shows you that I'm super happy and have never-ending energy.

This awesome rescue is not super sure about my past, but the person that brought me to Save-A-Bull said that I came from Texas as a puppy. I lived in Minneapolis and was left behind for someone to take care of me. That person said they had gotten bit by a different dog a few years ago and wasn't comfortable having a dog and being my owner. The great people at Save-A-Bull took me in and found me a cool foster home where I met Juice and Ginny, both Save-A-Bull alumni and we hit it off right away so they became my new foster siblings. I'm working on figuring out the house routine and have made a lot of progress in a short time! Mostly I love that I get to play a lot, enjoy the sunshine, and have a comfy place to sleep at night.

Speaking of progress, I’ve only had one accident in my kennel on the night I moved into my foster home. I was VERY confused and stressed and I had just started new food, but we got that all sorted out, and I’ve only had a couple pee accidents in the house because my silly foster parents didn't read my mind. 🙂 I'm learning how to jingle the bells on our door to go outside and am a very regular pooper. I don't love my kennel yet, but we're working on that. I'd prefer to sleep on the couch, in bed, or even a dog bed, but not my kennel. I do well in the kennel while my foster parents are at work or go to the store and that is getting better. I like to bark to let them know I'm not super happy about it. When I hear them come home, I like to screech to make sure they remembered they put me in there. I already know how to “sit” and am learning how to “shake” just for fun. I'm understanding that I cannot jump on everything and OFF is said a lot to me, which is starting to make sense. "ALL DONE" is also starting to make sense to me. I know my name and will come to you if you yell for me. Sometimes I see what my foster sister and brother are doing and learn from them too. I REALLY love food, so hopefully training will be easy and fun – treats get my attention every time.

I REALLY like to play and run!!! My foster house has two resident dogs and a cat. My foster sister dog and I like to chase each other, run laps, bite cheeks, and roll around together. We always have to share the same toy and drink out of the same bowl and be in the same room. She's just one year old so we have the same energy level – it's super fun! My foster brother dog tries to play with us, but I'm not sure of him yet. He likes to lay around and relax and I think I annoy him a little bit. His size and loud bark confuse me a bit, but we still get along; I just try to let him be but will play with him when he asks. My cat sister and I are best buddies, or at least I think so. We play this game where I chase her and she pretends to run away, and then I find her and sniff her or give her kisses. She starts purring and I think she is having fun. Then we do it all over again. Sometimes she gets mad at me though. If I had another cat sibling at my new home, I'd need to make sure we can be friends and they can tell me to stop if I'm being crazy. At my foster house, we're working on playing nice as I can get a little rough, but more importantly; we're learning how to be calm and take breaks if it goes too far. I'm starting to understand! Sometimes I just need a break to chew on a bone and feel much better. There are no kids at my foster house but I hope to meet some at foster events and will keep you posted on how I do! I think an older kid who could tell me I'm being naughty or too rough would be a good match. I've only been at my foster home for a couple weeks but I am learning a lot and am trying to go with the flow.

My perfect home would have time for a lot of play and lots of love. I could see myself having dog siblings because I love to have friends to play with but they might need to show me the ropes and teach me how to be a good play partner. They also need to be able to correct me as I can get a little feisty if I'm having too much fun. A grumpy dog would not be a good match for me. If I had no dog siblings, my people would love to be active and go on walks or take me to new places to explore. I think I'd be really good at being a running buddy too or hiking in the woods. I love to lay in the sun and relax, chew on bones or play with toys and can keep myself entertained. I sure do love curling up on the couch or snuggling in bed, so don't count me out of your binge watching sessions just yet! I want to be around my people and I give the sweetest little kisses. I can't wait to meet you!
