Hi, I’m Shirley! I’m a sweet, happy girl with a whole lot of love to give. My siblings and I were found as strays at a cemetery in Texas by some very kind people who made sure we got to safety. Now I’m ready to find the people who will love me forever!
One look at my face and you’ll see some of my best features – my adorable mask-like markings, cute floppy ears, freckles sprinkled across my muzzle, and warm, expressive eyes. But I think my personality is my best feature of all. I’m a very affectionate, submissive little lovebug, and I absolutely adore being close to my people.
I’m a medium-to-high-energy puppy, so I’m always ready for some fun! I love playing tug-of-war and chasing my foster siblings around the yard. Give me a squeaky or crinkly toy and I’m one happy girl. I also love spending time with my humans. If my foster mom is sitting at her desk working, I’ll stretch myself up to say hello throughout the day. I just want to make sure she knows I’m here and available for some attention!
And when it’s time to slow down, I am ALL about the cuddles. I’ll happily let my foster parents cradle me like a baby while I’m sitting in their lap, and I flop onto my back all the time because, obviously, that is the universal signal for “BELLY RUBS, PLEASE!” I’m pretty sure I could make just about anyone smile with my happiness and my silly little puppy antics.
I live with three foster dog siblings – a playful 14-month-old Lab/Bully mix, an 8-year-old semi-playful Hound mix, and an 11-year-old mellow Havanese. I love having other dogs around and am very playful with them. When I meet new dogs, I’m usually a happy, wiggly girl with a high, wagging tail who is ready to move forward and make friends. I may jump up because I’m excited, but I’m just looking for someone to play with!
I haven’t met any cats or children yet, so those would be new experiences for me. I don’t have any prey drive for outdoor critters, which is a pretty good thing because I’d rather spend my time playing than chasing things!
I’m also perfectly happy when my people leave me alone for a while. I’m kennel trained and do well when I’m on my own. I’m still working on my potty training, but I’m learning and making progress. I’m also working on my "sit," and treats and attention from my humans are excellent motivators. I’m a puppy, after all, so I have lots to learn – but I’m ready to learn it with you!
I could live in an apartment or a single-family home. I just need a family who understands that puppies come with energy, playtime, training, and the occasional bit of mischief. Whether you’re an experienced dog owner or new to puppy life, I think we could be a great match as long as you’re ready to help me learn and grow.
My foster family says I’m a true little ray of sunshine! They love how sweet and submissive I am, how much I enjoy my belly rubs, and how my happiness seems to be contagious. I have a feeling that if you meet me, you’ll understand exactly what they mean.
