Hello, I’m Rupert. I’m silky black with a beautiful white star on my chest and four white socks on my paws. I came to Minnesota with my mom and four siblings from a reservation in South Dakota. My mom went to another foster home and we were rescued by the good folks at Save-A-Bull.
I stayed with my siblings for a few weeks and then I went to stay with another lovely foster family for a few days. At that house there was an 8-year-old girl, who was my best friend. Now I am with my current foster family. I settled in here so quickly! This house has my foster parents and three big dogs. I love to cuddle with my foster parents. I follow my foster mom around like her little shadow! I love to play with the big dogs too, but I do get scared sometimes. If my mom is sitting on the floor I will sit on her lap and bark at the big dogs to get their attention and then I’ll start prancing towards them! Sometimes if they really want to play I will run back into my foster mom's lap where it’s safe. I am getting more confident and playful and relying on my mom less and less for safety. Just like she keeps telling me, I am a tough guy and I got this!
I love to go outside to run around and chase my foster siblings. After that, I get super sleepy and love to nap and snuggle. My favorite thing is being on my foster mom's lap while she works. I just cuddle right up and fall asleep! My foster family says I’m a pretty relaxed little guy. They love me a lot. I’m doing a great job going to the door when I need to go potty. I come when I’m called and absolutely love, love, love to snuggle and lick chins. I love being with my humans!
My foster mom is working with me on kennel training. So far, she tells me it’s a slow process. It will take lots of time and consistency. I really love being around my people so much, I have a hard time being separated. I am very vocal about that when they try to put me in my kennel and then leave the room. With lots of consistency and treats I will learn that my kennel is a happy place. For now I am just doing short spurts in there to get used to it.
I am so excited to meet my forever family and start cuddling with my people. I really want to be a part of a family who has the time to give me the love and adoration I need. I’m still a young puppy so I will need lots of patience and consistency. I am excited to work more on my training and would love to go to some training classes. They sound so fun!
