Hello, my name is Rugrat, but my foster mama calls me Penny Pen (something about my soulful brown eyes and a penny for my thoughts). My foster mom also says I have the softest fur that feels like velvet, and I give the best lean-in cuddles ever. Apparently, she thinks I am a pretty great, easy puppy.
I came to the rescue all the way from New Mexico. I think this snow is cooold but I still love to run around and play outside. In fact, I love to play so much I can wear out my foster fur brother who is not even two!
So far, I’ve been the perfect house guest and have only had one accident on my first night here. Currently, I live with a couple of humans (including an 11-year-old human who I love to follow around), a foster fur-brother, Oak who loves to play almost as much as I do, and two cats. I’m very curious about the cats, but they don’t seem curious about me, so we haven’t played much. One of them hissed at me and gave me a little swat, which hurt my feelings so now I leave her alone.
I am working on my leash manners and starting to learn “down”, “stay”, and “leave it” (I drop things almost immediately when told to). I have already mastered potty training, “sit”, and “come” when called. My foster mom says I need some friendly reminders about boundaries as I like to play so much and will cuddle on you, instead of next to you, but I’m easily redirected. I absolutely love food and am such a smart girl, so I really love training and learning new things. After all, I just want to be the bestest puppy and make my family happy. While I’m not a fan of the kennel, I go in with ease (especially when there’s a Kong or chew toy in there) and have even started to go into my kennel on my own for some down time. I sleep in my kennel too, which I’m not a fan of because I’d much rather be closer to my humans.
Are you looking for a sweet puppy who is easy to train, super social, and loves all creatures? If so, I’m your girl and I would love to meet you!
