Hello, I’m Opal. If you are looking for lots of cuddles and cute kisses, I might just be the girl for you! I'm a sweet and sassy girl who is the perfect balance between lots of energy and lots of snuggles. I'm a curious pup and love to play with toys and chew on bones. I love climbing to get on top of things and explore! I'm small and mighty and my foster parents call me a little baby tank because of all my strong muscles. I've got the zoomies down to a science and even created my own race track around the trees in the back yard mulch because I run SO fast!
I've been making really good progress on my potty training and am learning how to jingle the bells to say I need to go outside and potty. I still have occasional accidents but I am working on it. I'm doing well at learning new things like “down”, “sit”, and “no”. I sit for my meals and am also learning to go on walks on a leash. At night I sleep in my kennel, where I have a comfy bed. Sometimes I get whiney in the morning because I want to come out and snuggle. I don't have any accidents in my kennel and I will go in it when you are gone from home. I've been working up slowly to spend more time there when my foster parents are at work and am doing a good job. However, you coming home will be my favorite part of the day! I squeak and yell and bark in joy and will give you a million kisses. I love toys and bones. I am very food motivated, I like praise but treats rule!
In my foster home I have two dog siblings. I love playing crazy with them and would love to have a partner to play with. I like to nap on top of my foster sister or snuggle up with you under the blankets. I've met my foster cat siblings and I am kind to them, but want to play and chase them, even when they don't want me to. I haven't been around any kids in my home, but met some at events and they seemed pretty cool.
Outside smells great and I am super curious! People walking towards me can be a little scary but I just need someone to help me learn that it’s ok. When someone new comes over to my foster house, it takes me a minute to warm up and then we are best buddies. I can also be shy at social events for a few minutes, but then I really come out of my shell.
I enjoy a nice bath and think I would like to explore lakes or try swimming in the summer. I might also just settle for sneaking into the shower with you. 🙂 I also love a good nap – you'll love my little snores and grunts!
I would love to find a family who likes to play during the day and snuggle on the couch to a good movie at night. I'm excited to learn and have you teach me all the things I need to know. I have lots of puppy energy so a nice yard for zoomies would be ideal or some nice trails to go on walks. I'm really good at learning new things and want to make you happy!
