I'm ready for my new family!

Morticia

I'm Available

Hello, I’m Morticia. I’m a very sweet little lady with a face that seems to melt hearts wherever I go. I recently made the big trip from Texas with my littermates, and while the world still feels pretty big sometimes, I’m getting braver every single day.

I’ll admit that I can be a little cautious when I first meet new people or experience new things. I like to take a moment to make sure everything is safe before I jump in. But once I get comfortable, my gentle, loving personality starts to shine. Every day I grow a little more confident, a little more independent, and a little more curious about the world around me. My foster family says I’ve come a long way, and I’m pretty proud of that!

I’ve also been working hard on all my puppy skills, and I’m doing amazing. I’m rock-solid with potty training – no accidents here! I can hold it all night and even while my foster human is at work. I’m also doing great with kennel training. I sleep peacefully in my kennel at night and while my foster human is away, especially if I’ve had plenty of exercise, enrichment, and quality time beforehand.

Speaking of sleep, I happen to be an excellent sleeper. Give me a fun day full of adventures, playtime, and learning, and I’ll happily snooze for nine-plus hours at night. I’m even considerate enough to let you sleep in. You’re welcome!

I already know "sit" like a pro and have recently started learning "down," "come," and the first few steps of "side." I’m becoming a really nice leash walker, too. Sometimes there are just so many interesting things happening in the neighborhood that I get a little distracted. Can you blame me? There are smells to investigate, leaves to inspect, and squirrels to monitor. Luckily, I’m very food motivated, which means I’m eager to learn and pretty easy to teach. A few tasty treats and I’m ready to focus on the task at hand.

Right now, I live with two adult dogs. I spend most of my time with the three-year-old male, and we’ve really started to figure each other out. We’ve even developed our own unique friendship and play style. Sometimes we wrestle and chase each other around the yard, and other times we each do our own thing. I’m becoming much more confident, but every once in a while, when I’m feeling unsure, I try to take charge of the situation. The good news is that I do this less and less as I mature and gain confidence. With a little supervision and clear structure, I continue learning good dog manners every day.

One thing I’m especially proud of is how well I can entertain myself. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become much more independent and can happily spend time chewing on toys, sniffing around the yard, or enjoying one of my newest hobbies: wildlife observation. I take my job very seriously. Birds, squirrels, rabbits – you name it, I’m keeping track of it.

I do great with kids, too. I’m gentle, sweet, and enjoy spending time with them. I’ve also met a couple of cats. I was very interested in making friends, but they didn’t seem quite as interested in me and quickly ran away. I think I could do just fine with cats as long as we’re introduced properly and given time to get to know each other.

As for my perfect home, I’m pretty flexible. I could thrive with another dog companion or be perfectly happy as your one-and-only pup. What matters most is having a family that will continue helping me build confidence, learn new things, and enjoy a healthy balance of structure, exercise, enrichment, and love.

And while I enjoy adventures and exploring the world, I definitely have a soft side. Once I’ve burned off my puppy energy, there’s nothing I love more than curling up next to my favorite humans for a cozy cuddle session. In fact, snuggling is probably my second-favorite activity – right behind snacks.

If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle girl who may start out a little shy but will blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion with a little patience and love, I just might be your perfect match. I’m ready to find my forever family and show them just how special I can be. 🐾💗
