Hello, I’m Millie. If I do say so myself, I’m a pretty beautiful girl. Most people notice my adorable blocky head first – it’s one of my signature features. Add in my gorgeous coloring, velvety-soft fur, and expressive eyes, and I tend to make quite an impression. My foster family says my eyes are my secret weapon because I can give a look that clearly says, “I think I deserve another treat,” and somehow it works more often than it should.
My life before rescue is mostly a mystery, but one thing is certain – it wasn’t easy. I was found wandering alone through a Minnetonka neighborhood, and by the time I arrived in rescue, my body showed signs of a hard life. My skin was covered in sores, my allergies were severe, and much of my fur was missing. The people caring for me also believe I spent much of my life having puppies of my own. Somewhere along the way, I missed out on the love, comfort, and care that every dog deserves. Thankfully, those days are behind me.
With good food, medical care, and lots of patience and love, I’ve made an incredible comeback. My fur has grown back beautifully, my skin feels so much better, and I’ve learned something pretty wonderful: people can be kind. Now, instead of worrying about where I belong, I spend my days dreaming about the family who will make the rest of my story the happiest chapter yet.
I’m what you’d call pleasantly laid-back, with a few enthusiastic wiggle explosions mixed in. The biggest one happens when my foster mom comes home. My entire body wiggles with excitement, and I’m pretty sure my tail has enough power to create its own weather system. Once I’ve gotten all my happiness out, I’m more than content to curl up beside my people and enjoy some quality cuddle time.
One of my favorite things in the world is simply being with my family. Whether we’re going for a walk, hanging out in the yard, or relaxing on the couch, I’m happiest when I know my people are nearby. I take my role as household supervisor very seriously, too. I like to keep track of the foster kids and make sure everyone is safe, accounted for, and behaving appropriately. It’s a big responsibility, but somebody has to do it.
I absolutely love walks and make an excellent walking companion. I’m not usually distracted by every squirrel, leaf, or passing dog. Instead, I enjoy taking in the sights and smells while staying focused on the adventure we’re sharing together. I’m active enough to enjoy daily outings but relaxed enough to spend the rest of the day lounging at home.
One of the fun surprises of my new life has been discovering toys. Apparently, they’re amazing! I especially enjoy sturdy chew toys and tennis balls. Tennis balls are particularly entertaining because I can chase them, toss them around, and, if given enough time, carefully remove every bit of fuzz with great dedication and attention to detail.
I’m a sweet, gentle, affectionate girl with a slightly sensitive side. When I meet new people – especially men – I may take a little time to decide if you’re trustworthy. I like to make sure you’re one of the good ones before fully opening my heart. Patience, kindness, and a few treats go a long way with me. Once I know I’m safe, I become a loyal companion who loves being part of the family.
I do best with women and older children. I enjoy kids, but I’m a fairly strong girl who sometimes forgets my size when I get excited, so older children are probably the best fit. What I lack in grace, I make up for in love.
My perfect home is one where I can continue enjoying the simple things I’ve come to appreciate: daily walks, cozy naps, gentle guidance, and lots of love. After everything I’ve been through, I’m not looking for anything fancy. I just want a family of my own – a place where I’m cherished, included, and never have to wonder if I belong.
If you’re looking for a resilient, loving girl who has overcome a difficult past and still greets life with a gentle heart and a wagging tail, I just might be your perfect match. I’m ready to leave my old story behind and start the best chapter yet – with you. 🐾💗
