Hi, my name is Mary. People tell me I’m beautiful, with my gray-green eyes, natural eyeliner, velvet-soft head wrinkles and heart-shaped nose, and I can’t disagree. But wait – my beauty goes deeper! I’m an extrovert, a total sweetheart, greeting every single human with a full-body wiggle and whip-like tail wags.
I love to follow my foster mom and dad around everywhere they go, and need a Kong or treat puzzle to keep me occupied and less worried when the people leave the room for a minute. I am grateful for lots of options for appropriate things to chew on and keep my mind busy, as I still have a lot of puppy energy.
I love getting to know new humans and dogs, although I overheard people saying that I will need to learn something called “appropriate level of exuberance” while playing with other dogs. I have not met kids, but would likely be best with kids over age 10, as I tend to jump up in my excitement. I will need lots of help learning to walk nicely on leash and not jumping on people in friendly excitement, but I will reward you with my quick learning abilities and treat motivation! Let’s take an obedience class or two together, shall we?
I am potty trained, crate-trained and do well in my crate overnight and when you leave the house, once I settle in with a Kong or lick mat. I have mastered “sit” and am quickly learning “wait,” “come,” and “leave it.” I have also taken quite well to the humans saying my name, and I will come bounding toward anyone who says it!
I would appreciate a fenced yard as I love to explore, sniff and play. I’ve been learning to channel my energy with treat puzzles and activity-based toys, which I figure out very quickly, so I’m always up for new and more challenging endeavors. Put your creativity hat on, and let’s do this!
