I've found my furever family!

Kitty

We're happy to tell you that Kitty has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Hi, my name is Kitty. I must have been a hippo in a previous life, I have the shorter legs and belly to prove it! A doctor at the U of M hospital started calling me Kitty the Pitty so others wouldn’t be confused by my name and look for a cat. 🙂 My sister and I were roaming the streets in St. Paul when we were picked up by the puppy police. Thank goodness they found us! I had a bad case of the puppy strangles. Then just five days after being in my foster home I started getting sick, it was pretty scary. Turns out I picked up Parvovirus, and was the second dog (my sister was the first) to receive the new monoclonal treatment from the University of Minnesota. The U of M saved my life and I will forever be grateful.

I’m still working hard on potty training. I know I’ll pick it up pretty quick. My humans give me treats every time I take my business outside. I have been an angel in my kennel since day one in my foster home, I have no problem being in my kennel. I go in and stay quiet all night until you come wake me in the morning. I am an adorable distraction! I don’t even mind hanging in my kennel if you have some cleaning to do. At night I sleep in a kennel filled with comfy blankets and a toy/bone. I get a big blanket to cover my kennel and some classical music played to lull me off to sleep. I picked up “sit” pretty quickly, and am working on “stay”, “free”, and “drop it”. Besides “sit”, I’ve mastered stealing hearts! My foster family knows everyone will fall in love with me upon our first meeting. I can’t wait to take a training class! I love people, dogs, attention, and treats. I’m eager to learn, especially if treats and some extra love is involved.

I have two human foster siblings – the boy is 15 and the girl is 13. I’m not sure who loves who more. I haven’t had the privilege of meeting any cats yet. I live with two Save-A-Bull alumni dogs and I know they can help make me an even better dog.  Blanche is the older lady of the house, she is 7 years old. Possibly a Boxer/Pitbull mix. Stanley is the younger man of the house at 3 ½ years old. Lucky me! Stanley still plays like a puppy. Stanley is quite a bit taller than Blanche, he is probably a Weimaraner/Pitbull mix. I am more submissive when it comes to playing with the big dogs. I love to play fetch, chase the same toys, and play tug-of-war with my sister. I just follow the big dogs and try to give them kisses. When they play, I usually hide under the table. I’m just a little too small to run with the big dogs.

Some other fun facts about me:
Why are you the very best dog in the whole world?
I love to snuggle! The closer the better in my opinion.

What would your dream day consist of?
My dream day would be filled with fresh air, lots of cuddles, playtime, and maybe a field trip with my new family.

What are some of your favorite toys?
I love bones to chew and stuffed animals or ropes to chase. So pretty much all the toys!

Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
I love both! At this age I think I’m getting more snoozes in during the day.

What makes your body wiggle and your tail wag harder than anything?
When the people that love me come home or wake me up in the morning. My whole body can’t help but wiggle, I just love my humans.

Give me a description of your dream forever family.
I could cuddle all day! So hopefully my new family likes having me close by.  Just looking for some love, play, and a comfy bed.
