I've found my furever family!

Hawthorn

We're happy to tell you that Hawthorn has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Hello, my name is Hawthorn. It’s hard to pick my best trait  – I have stunning blue eyes and am the only one in my litter with these gems. Most of my siblings are brindle, while I have this beautiful black and white fluffy coat. It appears as if I’ve dipped my legs in brindle and topped off my look with white socks. I am a big boy, the chunk of my litter! I used to be an outdoor puppy. I was born on a reservation up in northern Minnesota. It didn’t take long to persuade me to enjoy the comforts of a home. Let’s just say I acclimated quickly!

I’m pretty new to the cozy home life, but I am trying my best to take my business outside. So far, I have kept my kennel clean overnight. Bonus points for me! I sleep through the night in my kennel and anytime my humans leave the house. I do cry just a little in the beginning – I need to cry a little bit just so my humans know I miss them so much. We both know we’d rather be together. 🙂 At night I sleep in my kennel in a fluff of blankets, scattered with a toy or two. Then my human throws a blanket over the top to make it nice and cozy, they even play classical piano music for me while I rest. At the moment my main focus is potty and kennel training. I think I am beginning to understand the phrase “leave it” too. Since I just arrived at my foster home recently I haven’t had time to even think about going out to a training class, but from what I hear I’m sure I would love it! If treats and praise are part of this training course you can count me in. I love attention from my humans! I know they love me so much, so I would do anything for their attention. I’m sure treats wouldn’t hurt either, I just haven’t had the chance to sample such delicacies.

In my foster home I have two human foster siblings. The boy is 15 and the girl is 13. I’m not sure who loves me more. I haven’t had the privilege of meeting any cats yet. I live with my littermate brother and two Save-A-Bull alumni dogs. I just know my foster siblings can help make me an even better dog. Blanche is the older lady of the house, she is 7 years old. Possibly a Boxer/Pitbull mix. Stanley is the younger man of the house at 3 ½ years old. Lucky me, Stanley still plays like a puppy! Stanley is quite a bit taller than Blanche, he is probably a Weimaraner/Pitbull mix. I am definitely on the more submissive side, even with my runt of a brother. I love to play tug-of-war with my brother, race around outside, and chase Blanche to cover her face in kisses.

Some other fun facts about me:
Why are you the very best dog in the whole world?
There is a lot of me to love and with my fluffy fur I take cuddling to another level!

What would your dream day consist of?
I would sleep right next to humans in their bed, sleep in, have a nice breakfast, play a little, then snooze on the couch together in a pile of blankets.

What are some of your favorite toys?
I love them all, but have picked up the game of fetch quickly.

Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
I need the perfect balance, a mix of both cuddles and snoozes. I love to play, but I have a feeling I’m going to be leaning towards cuddles and snoozes.

What makes your body wiggle and your tail wag harder than anything?
When I see my humans after they’ve been away my whole body wiggles – I can’t help it! I also get so excited when my foster dog siblings pay attention to me and want to play.

Give me a description of your dream forever family.
I’ve had the taste of that sweet home life. The number of people or dogs doesn’t matter. Give me some toys, good food, and at least one loving human. I’ll be set! Could this be you?
