Hi, I’m Fern! But my foster mom likes to call me Fernie Fern. I am just the sweetest little girl with a beautiful brindle coat and bright crystal-clear eyes. We think my mom was a Shepherd and my dad a Pitbull. I was the only little girl in my litter and came to Save-A-Bull with my four brothers from a reservation in northern Minnesota. Although I lived outside most of my life, I acclimated VERY fast to indoor living. I just love being warm and cozy inside with my foster family and give the very best snuggles in the world.

It was love at first sight with kisses galore when I met my pittie foster sister who is a one-year-old (Save-A-Bull alumni). I want to be just like her when I grow up, especially since we look so much alike. She really has been showing me the ropes of playing, napping, eating, and going to the bathroom. I try so hard to follow and copy everything she does, but when I need a little break I’ll come sit on my foster mom’s feet. One of my favorite things is chasing her around in circles in the backyard. We also love chomping on chew toys near each other, too. Whether in the morning or waking up from naps, she is the first thing I look for as I cannot wait to be around her. I also live with my human foster brother and sister, who are eight and nine. They are not quite as exciting as my doggie foster sister, but I sure enjoy being around them. My favorite routine is snuggling with each of them during their nightly reading time in bed. It’s so cozy!

Although I do love to play, I also REALLY love my cuddle time. The best is when I get to curl up in my foster mom’s arms, snuggle my little head under her chin, and fall asleep. I just love feeling safe and warm. But I’m also doing great with kennel time. I sleep in there all night and take naps during the day there. Not always, but sometimes I cry for a minute, although I always settle in quickly. I’ve not had a single accident in my kennel yet! My foster mom is so proud of me. I’m really getting the hang of where I’m supposed to go, but now that it’s getting colder, I like to quickly get back into the warm house!

Here are a few of my favorite things, in no particular order:

  • Chew toys! I love Nyla Bones and Kongs.
  • Play wrestling with my foster sister.
  • Long cozy naps, especially cuddled with one of my humans, but my kennel will do also.
  • My foster mom’s slippers and shoes. I haven’t started chewing them, but every time I come into the house from being outside, I must grab one and bring it into my living room bed. And ONLY my foster mom’s footwear! I could care less for anyone else’s footwear. 🙂

I just know I’m going to make the best addition in a forever family. I’ll need a family that can teach me how to grow into the best dog I can be, and who can be patient with my puppy energy. In return, I will give the best snuggles you could imagine. I just want to love and be loved! Will that be with you?
