Hi friends! My name is Dolly, and I’m about 9 months old. I was named after a certain celebrity with a BIG personality – and let me tell you, the name fits! I have the personality, the attitude, and the BIGGEST ears to match.
I’m a super sweet girl who absolutely LOVES people. I’m happiest when I’m with my humans, and right now I’m especially attached to my foster mom. I follow her around, cuddle with her, and basically think she hung the moon. But I have a feeling that once I find my forever person, I’m going to love them just as hard.
I also LOVE dogs! I live with five other dogs who all have very different personalities, and I’ve learned a lot from them. I have two favorite boyfriends – Barry, the Bernese Mountain Dog, and Wrigley, the big Pitbull – and I spend a lot of time playing with them.
Now, I should probably be honest about something – I am still a PUPPY.
I love to play, and sometimes I get a little carried away. My play style can be a little rough, and if another dog is nervous or unsure of me, I can sometimes get a little too forward. My foster family helps me remember to respect their space and gives me a little guidance when I get overly excited. For the most part, I’m very respectful of the other dogs I live with – I just need someone who understands that I’m still learning my manners.
I’m also working hard on my potty training. I’m doing my best, but I’m still learning that the whole house is NOT a bathroom. My foster family takes me outside frequently to help me be successful, and I’m making progress!
I’m also treadmill trained, which is pretty impressive for a puppy if I do say so myself. I LOVE getting exercise and going on sniff adventures. I tend to stick pretty close to my people, so my foster mom isn’t too worried about me being a little escape artist.
I’m working on my manners too! We’re practicing threshold training, so I learn to wait instead of launching myself through doors or flying out of my kennel like I’ve just been released from prison. I can also jump when I’m excited, so older kids who are comfortable around a bouncy puppy would probably be the best fit for me.
My foster mom believes that structure and continued training will always be important parts of my life. I’m a smart, energetic puppy, and I do best when I have clear expectations, a consistent routine, plenty of exercise, and positive guidance. My foster mom would love for my forever family to continue the training and structure I’m learning now so I can keep growing into the best version of myself.
Sometimes I get a little nervous when I’m in my kennel and hear unfamiliar people or noises. I may give you some “WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” alarm barking, but once I understand that everything is okay, I settle back down.
There is one thing I’m definitely NOT great with and that is cats. I have a pretty strong prey drive, and I want to chase and grab them, so a cat-free home is a must for me.
I spend most of my days at my foster mom’s doggy daycare, where I get tons of opportunities to exercise, socialize, learn, and experience all kinds of new things. My foster family is working hard to give me the best possible start and help me become the amazing adult dog I’m meant to be.
I had a rough start to life, but I don’t really want to talk about that. I’m much more interested in what comes next. I’m a resilient little girl, and all I want is a family who will love me, continue teaching me, provide the structure and routine I need, give me plenty of exercise, and let me be my goofy, silly, big-eared self.
Oh, and one more thing – when I see my foster mom, I get SO excited that I have to find something to carry around. Sometimes it’s a toy. Sometimes it’s something I definitely wasn’t supposed to steal. Usually, it’s her slipper. 🙂
I’m Dolly! I’m sweet. I’m goofy. I’m cuddly. I’m a little spicy. I have BIG ears and an even BIGGER personality. And I’m ready to find my forever family. Could it be you?
