I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Darcy

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

Hi, I’m Darcy. My black and brindle coat is the most striking thing about me. All of the humans I meet tell me what a gorgeous girl I am! Sometimes when I get excited, I will sit down with my tail between my legs and I will still try to wag it. I came all of the way to Minnesota from New Mexico.

I am potty trained! I am still working on my crate training. I get pretty stressed out whenever my human leaves and I am slowly learning that they will come back to cuddle me. At night I love to sleep on the couch with my favorite blanket under my chin. I also do well sleeping in my crate at night with the help of my blanket. I know how to “sit” and “shake”, but I am still working on doing that when I am asked and not just whenever I think food might be involved. :) I’m on my way to mastering sitting on command. I am still getting used to my environment after my move up here from New Mexico. I haven’t taken any training courses yet, but I hear that I am going to see a trainer to help me get set up for learning more things. After I get over my initial shyness, I will do just about anything for a delicious treat. Food and cuddles with my human are my favorite things!

I like dogs and have met a few little humans. I like them when they respect me. I am very interested in the bunnies that I see running around the backyard. I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment and need to stay very calm until I am all better.

Some other fun facts about me:
Why are you the very best dog in the whole world?
There is nothing I want more than to spend some quality time on the couch with my foster dad. I sometimes lay my head on his lap and snore really loudly.

Give me a description of your dream forever family.
Right now my perfect forever family would have no stressors. Once I am done with my heartworm treatment, that might change. :)

What are some of your favorite toys?
I love my rubber ball that hides food inside. I will chase that around for hours trying to get those pesky treats out. I also like my rope ring that I can chew on while I watch TV.

Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
I’m not allowed to play at the moment while I heal. That’s ok with me though, because I love to cuddle up to my foster dad while he works.

What makes your body wiggle and your tail wag harder than anything?
If I know I am about to get some food or treats, then my tail wags so hard because I can barely stand the wait!

What would your dream day consist of?
My dream day would consist of lots of food and cuddles. I’m very interested in exploring and can’t wait until I can sniff everything around the neighborhood and go on walks.

While I am timid and shy at first meeting, I get very attached once I warm up to someone. I will lay with them and cuddle for hours! Once I am done with my treatment, I will get to try all kinds of new things out. Until then, I need to stay calm and relaxed. One thing that I do know is that I would love to meet you!
