Hello my name is Casper. While I am not a ghost I am very friendly once I get to know you! I spent the last two years in a foster/shelter before coming to MN to find my forever home. They think I am about seven and don’t really know what my life was like before I was found.
I am deaf and my foster mom thinks I was probably misunderstood because I couldn’t hear anything. I am shy when I first meet people but warm up quickly if I can get used to you on my own. I love treats and take them ever so gently. (Hint hint, the way to my heart is through treats!).
I am completely house trained and walk well on a leash. I feel safest when I am very close to you. Because I can’t hear, I rely on my human to set the tone and assure me everything is ok. I only bark when someone is in or near my yard. I know I am not supposed to do that so I look at my foster mom as soon as I let out a bark to see if she is watching. If she gives me the stink eye and the sign for “no” I stop. I try not to bark but I need the world to know I am on alert and the humans should be too. I sleep in my kennel during the day when my foster mom is at work and I eat in there too.
When mom is home I stay pretty close to her. She lets me sleep with her, which I am grateful for because I feel safest when I am with her, especially at night when I can’t see if someone’s coming because it’s dark. I have a foster sister who really wants to play with me and has been very patient with me getting used to a new home and routine. We play a little in the yard but not so much in the house.
I would like to have a family that understands my special needs as a deaf dude and is willing to be patient with getting to know each other. I am ok with other dogs who give me space at first but also get a lot of confidence being with a hearing dog. Are you looking for a special guy who wants reassurance that you will protect him and love him? If so, I am your guy!
