I've found my furever family!

Barbosa

We're happy to tell you that Barbosa has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Hello, my name is Barbosa. All my hair is white, and I have a blue AND a green eye. My ears are floppy and sometimes stick up! I like to hop around like a rabbit and loooooove to snuggle with my people and the resident dog. I have three other siblings at Save-A-Bull, and one of my sisters is deaf.

I am doing well at going potty outside. I am let out right after my naps and have never had an accident in my kennel. I go into my kennel to rest – sometimes I will whine for a little bit but then settle down. At night I sleep in my kennel in the living room and I sleep through the night. We are currently working on the basic commands. I love following my resident dog friend and am getting the hang of things in my foster home. I’m really good at “sit”! I would love to take a training course and bond with you. I really like yummy treats!

I haven’t lived with children but have interacted with a lot of children at parks and done well with them. If I lived with children, I would have to learn how to play gently. I haven’t met any cats so I don’t know if I like them or not. I live with a 1 ½ year old doggie who is 60 lbs. We love to wrestle, play tug-of-war, and chew on bones together. I am submissive when I meet new dogs but if I get comfortable with them, I try to be dominant. 🙂 My favorite activities with other dogs are playing tug-of-war and snuggling. In the evenings I have been going to dog friendly patios with my foster parent and resident dog. I love saying hi to new people and dogs and then falling asleep on a human’s lap.

I do have a very unique quality, I am deaf. Most people I meet don’t believe that I am deaf because I am so smart! You would never know it by seeing me – as I like to bark, run around and play like any other puppy. My learning style is just a little different. Since I can't hear, I am very observant. I like to closely watch the people and animals around me. I’ve been watching my resident dog and learning basic commands like “sit” and “down” by using sign language. One really cool feature about being deaf is that I can sleep through anything, and I don’t get riled up by the doorbell. 🙂 Sometimes if I can find my foster mom, I will let out a couple barks and she comes to find me and I feel much better. I also get kind of loud when playing (because I can’t hear myself), but I am learning that I don’t need to bark and take a break. My foster parent has found that there are so many resources available to help special dogs such as myself, it’s awesome! I will need a family who can continue to work with me, so I can be the best puppy around.

Some other fun facts about me:
Why are you the very best dog in the whole world?
I am equal parts playful and snuggly. The best of both worlds!

What would your dream day consist of?
My dream day would start off with a quick breakfast and some morning snuggles. Then a little walk and playing in the yard, followed by a nap. After my nap I would like to lay in the sun or go to the park and then eat dinner and watch a movie with my human.

What are some of your favorite toys?
I really like bones I can chew on right now and will occasionally fling around balls.

Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
I could probably snooze all day if I was snuggling with my people but also have that puppy energy!

What makes your body wiggle and your tail wag harder than anything?
Playing with and annoying my resident dog!

Give me a description of your dream forever family.
My dream forever family would include someone to snuggle and play with. I think it would be fun to have a sibling at my new home but would also be great as a solo dog. I like rolling in the grass and chewing on sticks so a yard would be amazing! Could this be you?
