I'm ready for my new family!

Bailey

I'm Available

Hello, I’m Bailey. I have a soft coat, intelligent eyes and big paws at the end of my long brown ‘boots’. I am very playful and I like to be close to my humans. I can entertain myself with toys in the house and yard. I  like to cuddle. I am smart and pick up on daily routines quickly. I am a quiet robber of dog toys and human garments. 🙂 I was rescued by a Save-A-Bull alumni back in November when he learned my original owner was no longer able to care for me.

I get zoomies in the morning in the yard running tight circles around the human who is supervising. I love to run from one end of the basement to the other – halfway through I slide on the tile into the carpeted wall for dramatic effect. I have a big bellowing voice I use to tell my human ‘goooooood morning’ or inquire about what weird position they’ve contorted themselves into during their nightly stretching routine.

I am potty trained AND kennel trained! At night I sleep in my kennel. I have mastered “sit” and am working on “down.” I haven’t taken any training classes yet but I would love to take one with you! I love treats, human interactions, and toys. I love prancing around the yard with my flying squirrel frisbee, going on a walk, playing with my doggie housemates, and being a ‘gym dog’ (laying down and watching my human during his workout).

An active family would be best for me. I would be fine as an only dog or with dog siblings that like to play. I have puppy energy and I still like to put my mouth where it shouldn’t be, so I will need to be supervised and trained to be gentle around small children. Still being a puppy, an outlet for chewing is necessary. My foster parents let me chew on a bully stuffed beef bone in my kennel multiple times per day for 10-15 minute sessions. Sometimes I put my mouth on your hands to try to play. If I am left unattended I’ll chew on things that are not mine (electronics cords, yoga mats, remote controls) and steal garments (socks, shirts). I have a fleeting fascination with cars and trucks while I’m walking – rarely I’ll make movements towards the road that are concerning to my foster parents.

I don’t currently live with children or interact with them frequently, but I have met some at events like Holidazzle. I have yet to meet a cat. I do alert to squirrels and rabbits on my  walks, but I have never been close enough to get into a frenzy about a small animal. In my foster home I live with Fred, a 12-year-old, 8 lb. Chihuahua, and Avery a 5-year-old, 40 lb. Australian Cattle Dog. I am more submissive around other dogs. I like to go on group walks, play tug-o-war, do tricks for treats with the other dogs in the house, and rough house with my foster sister.

Some other fun facts about me:
Why are you the very best dog in the whole world?
I am very social – I want  to put my big head in my humans’ business no matter the activity. 🙂

What would your dream day consist of?
Hanging out on my dog bed and watching morning workout reps. Waking up and eating my dog food covered in gravy. Going for my morning walk with my dog sibling. Playing with my flying squirrel frisbee – chasing it at full speed and when I catch it, showing off how mean I can be, shaking it big time! I’d take a nap in the afternoon. Doing some training with hotdog bits as my reward. In my wildest biggest dreams I get harnessed up and pull a dog sled around the block. Get BIG pets and even bigger treats while watching 101 Dalmatians. Gravy on my dinner before my night walk and retiring to my crate for an evening of bully bone chewing.

What general knowledge TV or movie character are you most like and why?
I am like Boo from Monsters Inc. because I am very  friendly, curious about the world, and can be a little timid in new situations. I want to bond with those around me and I’m always down to clown around.

What are some of your favorite toys?
Flying squirrel frisbee, tennis balls, I love to squeak soft toys and then slowly extract their fluff!

Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
Play, cuddle, play, snooze!

What makes your body wiggle and your tail wag harder than anything?
My humans calling to me from at the top of the stairs with my food bowl for breakfast. Playing with my humans in the yard – a bit of back and forth chase in between fetch!

Give me a description of your dream forever family.
An active family who is willing to be patient with me while I’m learning obedience and support my physical and mental activity needs as I mature. Could this be you?
