I've found my furever family!

Angus

We're happy to tell you that Angus has a new furever home.

Hello, I’m Angus! I am going to be a big boy – I have a barrel chest and big paws. As soon as my fur is all grown back in (I had this itchy thing called mange), I will have a BEAUTIFUL gray and fawn brindle coat. My long tail always wiggles when I walk. I make impressive gremlin noises when I play! My puppy energy comes in spurts between my much-needed naps. Man, I love sleeping! I have been pretty reserved in my foster home since I’m new, but I have promised to show more personality as I get settled. My foster Mom thinks I will get spunkier. I came from this really hot place called Oklahoma. It had orange dirt everywhere. I do not remember much except being in a small chain link kennel run at a shelter before I was put on a truck to come to MN. I am so happy to be where it’s a bit cooler and I have a home to live in with comfy sofas and beds to sleep on!

I am almost potty trained, as long as my hoomans let me out about every 1.5-2 hours. I’m down to one accident a day, my foster Mom says. She hopes I will be fully trained this week – we will just see about that (insert my sneaky evil scientist laugh… ha ha ha!). I am kennel trained! I go in willingly, especially at night. I can make it almost 5-6 hours without having to be let out to potty. I go right back to sleep after I have pooped and peed and will sleep another 3-4 hours until my hoomans get up for the day. I have a little bit of anxiety about being left for a long time during the day (I have peed and pooped in my kennel just to get back at my foster Mom for leaving me – she not only had to clean the kennel, but all the bedding and I got bath time too – which I love). My foster Mom says that I will grow out of the anxiety as I get more comfortable and trust that they will come back for me. I spent a lot of time in an outdoor kennel before – I went to the bathroom where I slept and no one came for me, so I don’t know any difference. But I’m learning.

I have learned how to “sit” – and they give me these yummy things called treats! They are working on sending me to my “place” or “mat,” but I have no idea what those are yet. I am also going for walks, so I am learning about being on a thing called a leash. I haven’t been to a training class yet, but I promise to do really well if someone wants to take me! My biggest motivator is your attention, and a treat helps too!

I have a human foster sister that is nine years old. She is teaching me to walk on a leash. I prefer to stop and sniff everything and pull to catch up to people, but she is working hard to get me to “stay next to my human.” She likes to make me dance the cha-cha with her and snuggle. She is my favorite person! I haven’t met any cats yet. What is a cat? My foster brother and sister are Save-A-Bull alumni. My big brother is 85 lb. Bull Mastiff mix like me, and my big sister is a Bull Terrier mix, about 50 lbs. and more my size to play with. I really like them both, even when they correct me for being too “overly puppy” with them sometimes. I like to chew on my brother’s ears when he will let me. I play “steal the toy” with my sister a lot and we chase each other around. I have no fear of getting in there and stealing that toy from someone or wrestling, no matter what your size is. My favorite activities are playing “steal the toy” and tug-of-war. But I might like sofa surfing more. 🙂

Some other fun facts about me:
Why are you the very best dog in the whole world?
My foster Mom says I am hubba hubba… apparently, I am very handsome! She says that I am smart and very cuddly. My preferred place in the house is on the sofa right next to you.

Give me a description of your dream forever family.
One that likes to leave the dishwasher open so I can steal forks! They must want to take me on car rides often so I can get in a good nap. They need to turn on the hose so I can drink water. I really love having another dog to wrestle with, so a big sister or brother would be awesome. I really would love to sleep in a bed with someone, I haven’t been allowed to do that yet, but I know I would love it. I like to watch TV, so maybe some kiddos that like to watch cartoons in the morning would be fun. My new family must be patient in my walk style – which is everything must be sniffed, and everything goes in the mouth.

What general knowledge TV or movie character are you most like and why?
Goofy from the Mickey Mouse Club. He is a loveable guy, not always the brightest but has the best of hearts. Can make friends with anyone and is a hoot to have around.

What are some of your favorite toys?
I have a stuffed blue rhino that I love. I also have a pink flamingo hard toy that I chew on when my foster Mom won’t let me chew her sofa.

Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
I think it’s important to have a good balance of both. I must play hard to snooze deeply. I will take cuddles anytime someone is willing to sit on the sofa.

What makes your body wiggle and your tail wag harder than anything?
When I get to go out and go potty! I love to poop!

What would your dream day consist of?
Chasing my doggy foster sister, chewing on my doggy foster brother, pooping as often as possible, getting treats, catching up on my sleep on the sofa and barking at my hooman foster sister when she plays hide-and-go-seek with me.

I would love to meet you!
