Hi, I’m Laverne! I’m a happy, confident, spunky, and sweet puppy with adorable airplane ears, soulful eyes, and a mask-like pattern on my face that makes me pretty hard to resist. 💕 My siblings and I were found as strays at a cemetery in Texas, but these days, I’m making up for lost time by enjoying all the fun things puppyhood has to offer!
I’m a medium-to-high-energy girl, which means I’m pretty much always ready for my next adventure. Playing with my foster siblings? YES! A game of tug-of-war or chase? Absolutely! Exploring the yard and foraging through the mulch and sticks? You bet! And when I’m ready for a little downtime, I’m happy to settle in with a good bone or entertain myself with toys that squeak and crinkle.
My foster parents think I’m smart, outgoing, and adventurous, and I’d have to agree with them. I love being around people and other dogs, and I’m a total wiggle butt when I’m excited. I’m curious about the world around me and tend to happily head toward new people and new adventures. I may even jump up to say hello because sometimes my puppy enthusiasm gets the better of me. I’m working on remembering that all four paws belong on the floor! 😉
I currently live with three doggy foster siblings – a playful 14-month-old Lab/Bully mix, a semi-playful 8-year-old Hound mix, and an easygoing 11-year-old Havanese – and I love having canine friends to play with. I don’t have any cat experience yet, and I haven’t met any little humans, so those will be new adventures for me.
I’m also a pretty funny sleeper. Sometimes I stretch out with my legs spread in the most ridiculous position, and other times I’ll take a break from playing and bust out a full-on sploot. Apparently, I’m just as entertaining when I’m resting as I am when I’m playing! 😂
I’m still a puppy, so I’m learning all the important stuff. I’m working on “sit” and my potty training, and I’m getting there! I’m already kennel trained and do well when I’m left alone. Treats are a great motivator, but honestly, attention from my people is pretty rewarding, too. Give me some love and a little encouragement, and I’m ready to keep learning.
As for my forever home, I’m pretty flexible. I could be happy in an apartment or a single-family home, as long as my humans understand that I’m an energetic puppy who needs exercise, playtime, training, and plenty of opportunities to use my busy brain. I can get a little barky when I’m playing with my dog friends, so my future neighbors may occasionally hear me having a very important puppy conversation. 😆
My foster parents say I’m “such a fun, outgoing, sweet girl who just loves being around people and other dogs.” They tell me I’m a joy to have around – and honestly, I think they’re right!
I don’t have any special requirements, fears, or ongoing medical needs. I’m just looking for someone who is ready to enjoy all the fun, silly, sometimes-mischievous moments that come with raising a puppy. Whether you’re an experienced dog person or this is your first puppy adventure, I think we could be a pretty great match – as long as you’re ready to help me learn, grow, and become the best girl I can be.
