Hi, my name is Bernie. People can’t help but notice my velvety brindle coat, bright white chest, and my little white chin. I’m a gentle, handsome, quietly charming kind of pup – the kind people tend to fall in love with in seconds. I soak up affection and give it right back, and my humans say my sweet eyes and pure puppy charm are pretty hard to resist. I made my way here from Texas and am still getting used to the Minnesota winter, but I’m sure I’ll learn to love it (especially if there are warm blankets involved!).
I’m doing really well with potty training for a young puppy. I’m trying my best and getting closer every day – I know I’ll have it figured out soon. I’m also starting to learn important things like “sit” and “kennel.” I haven’t taken any formal obedience classes yet, but if treats and praise are involved, I’m all in and ready to learn!
I do nicely in my kennel, too. Sometimes I cry a little before bedtime, but then I curl up, get cozy, and fall asleep like a good boy. At night, I sleep in my kennel surrounded by fluffy blankets and a toy or two. When my foster family puts a blanket over my kennel, it feels like I’m sleeping in my own little fort – I love it!
I live with two human foster siblings, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, and I’m not sure who loves who more. I also share my home with two Save-A-Bull alumni dogs. Blanche is the wise older lady of the house at 9 years old, and Stanley is the younger guy at 5. Stanley still plays like a puppy, which I love! The older dogs are still getting used to having a new little guy around, but whenever they come near me it’s all playful runs, happy hops, and sweet puppy kisses.

What general knowledge TV or movie character are you most like and why?
At first, my foster family thought I was like Eeyore. My family was mistaken; it wasn’t sadness and gloom that they saw. I just move through this world with soulful eyes and a calm presence; I bring comfort wherever I go.
What are some of your favorite toys?
I love ropes and bones. Stuffies with a good squeaker are nice as well. I love them all!
Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
I’m a curious puppy who’d happily play fetch for a bit, then curl up for cuddles right after.
What makes your body wiggle and your tail wag harder than anything?
Reuniting with my humans even after a short separation.
My perfect family will be patient while I keep learning and growing. They’ll enjoy my playful curiosity and my laid-back personality, and they’ll make time for both play and snuggles. Most of all, they’ll love having a puppy who wants nothing more than to cuddle up close and be part of the family.
