Hi! I’m Ivy – professional tail-wagger, champion cuddler, and your future biggest fan. I’m a petite 100% American Pit Bull Terrier (DNA confirmed!) with a lean, athletic build and just the right amount of puppy wiggle. One of my ears sometimes pops up like it has its own little personality (still working on that), which my foster parents say makes me extra cute.
But my real superpower? My sweet brown pitty eyes. They’re not big and dramatic – they’re soft, warm, and full of pure love. When I look at my humans, it’s with total adoration and trust. My foster family says my eyes just melt into you, like I’m saying, “You’re my whole world.” And honestly? You are!
Mornings are my specialty. If you’re in bed, I will happily hop up to deliver good morning kisses – face, toes, wherever I can reach! It’s my enthusiastic way of saying, “Wake up! I love you and I’m so happy we’re together!”
I had a rough start – I was found wandering downtown St. Paul on Thanksgiving in the freezing cold. A kind human made sure I got somewhere safe, and soon after, my foster family welcomed me home. Now I’m learning what it means to feel warm, secure, and truly loved. I’m soaking up every bit of it and thriving.
I’m a smart little nugget, too! I know “sit” and “down,” and I’m working on “stay,” “place,” and more impressive skills. I LOVE treats (seriously, have snack, will perform!), which makes me a fun and eager student. I sleep quietly in my kennel all night, ride calmly in my kennel in the car, and I’ve officially mastered potty training.
My favorite things? Running zoomies in the yard, playing fetch and tug-of-war, chewing on my bones and frozen Kongs, and snuggling as close as physically possible to my humans. I live with three resident dogs – two seniors and one young pup who is my bestie. I’m respectful with my older dog siblings and playful with my younger one. I even won over the fussy senior (apparently that’s a big accomplishment!).
When I get excited (which happens because life is VERY exciting), I can be a little jumpy or mouthy during greetings. I just have big feelings! But I’m learning to stay calm with positive reinforcement and consistency. I recently met a teenage human and was overjoyed – once I settled down, we quickly became best friends and even shared a nap.
My kryptonite? Food and affection. If you have either, I am devoted to you forever. Since I had to fend for myself for a little while, I can be protective of my food and water during mealtimes. I’m also athletic and love to follow my people everywhere, so tall baby gates are helpful. And I’m a power chewer – sturdy toys like Kong Extremes and Benebones are perfect for me.
My dream day includes yard zoomies, a walk or run with my humans, playtime with a dog sibling (or lots of attention if I’m your one-and-only), training sessions to work my smart brain, cozy cuddles, and relaxing with a frozen Kong in my kennel – with delicious meals and treats in between, of course.
I’d thrive with patient, active humans who enjoy training, exercise, and mental enrichment. Because of my enthusiasm and energy, I’d do best with adults or older, dog-savvy kids or teens.
If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who will look at you with soft brown eyes full of love and loyalty – like you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to her – I just might be your girl!
