Hi, how you doin’?? I am a young Pitbull named Minnie, who had a rough start in life. I was found as a stray with mange, which left my skin sore and itchy. But despite my difficult beginnings, I have recovered and am THRIVING. I am a beautiful blue brindle pittie, with a shiny coat and bright eyes that shine with intelligence. Just take a peek at my before and after photo – a picture is worth a thousand words. I am 1.5 years young and full of energy, spunk, clever ideas, determination and am eager to learn, love, run, and play!
My foster mom thinks I am the most beautiful and clever girl she’s ever met. My motto is “where there’s a will there’s a way”. I love to learn and since I will do anything for a snack, I am easy to train. I reliably know how to “sit”, “stay”, “touch”, “come”, “down”, and “shake”. I am working on “leave it” and am doing pretty well as long as there aren’t distractions. My foster mom says we have to always try to be our best so we need to level this one up a notch! I’m also learning “out” (my mom doesn’t let me eat things I’m not supposed to).
I am quite an independent lady! My perfect forever family will be ready and willing to provide structure and consistently invest in my need for daily physical and mental stimulation (including training) so I can be the best girl I can be. I love long walks, shopping at farmer markets, going to breweries, and art festivals.
I listen so well when other dogs try to say hi without an invitation. I get along well with other dogs and would do well in a home with a canine friend. However, I am learning how to properly introduce myself. I get so excited that I can be a bit of a “bully” when meeting new dogs. I am working on this so I can make lots of friends. I live with my canine foster sister and love to play with her. We wrestle, chase each other and make lots of noise while doing so! I can tell when she has had enough of me so I lay down to let her know I am still in a playful mood. Sometimes my foster family will bring puppies home to spend a few days (usually 4-6 months old) and I LOVE them! I lay down and let them climb on me. I love teaching them how to play. I also love to play fetch with my human family! I can get a little mouthy when I get excited so I am learning to control my big, happy, excited feelings to show my humans love in a more appropriate way (mom says, friends are not food and I can’t be mouthing when I’m happy). I was on the streets for a while, so I am also learning how to be calm in the house. My perfect family will also need to continue this socialization and invest in continuing my growth journey as it relates to manners. I have not met cats yet, but I certainly like to chase the stray cats that have the audacity to stroll through my yard, so a home with cats is likely not the best fit for me.
I’m looking for a best friend who knows how to have fun and also creates a calm environment for me at home. My best friend should understand the importance of human/canine relationships that are built on trust, leadership, respecting boundaries (both of us), and celebrating successes. I need someone who is my advocate when the outside world is too overwhelming and who understands interaction is about modeling the behavior expected of me.
Luckily for you, I am fully potty trained and sleep soundly in my kennel at night. I do well in my kennel while my humans are working from home or away for a while, but I have zero problem expressing my disdain very vocally if I see them giving my canine sister extra walks or play time and I am not invited. Apartment living may not be the best fit for my big personality. Because of my enthusiasm, I am best suited for a home with kids over the age of thirteen who are dog savvy.
