My name is Lila of the Umbrella Academy Litter, and I am so excited to go home with you! I came to Save-A-Bull from New Mexico with my momma (Grace Hargreaves) and nine other siblings. Momma said the homeless woman couldn’t care for all of us, so she was surrendered when we were still in her belly. I am so happy to be here in Minnesota, and have so far had the greatest time!
My foster mom says I am a confident young lady, showing independence and maturity beyond my puppy years. I play well with my siblings, but also like to venture off on my own. After the litter was split up to other foster homes, two of my siblings and I stayed in the original foster home, and I feel super lucky because I love this place! I also have two foster siblings to keep me company, a 3-year-old male and 5-year-old female. One is teaching me how to play and the other one sets the rules and lets me know when I do good – so of course, I try to pay attention as much as my puppy brain will allow and soak it all in. They have been very patient and understanding of me, and actually motivate and cheerlead me when I do awesome things.
I have been working on kennel training and eat my meals in my kennel. Although at night, my siblings and I sleep in a pen with potty pads and a big comfy dog bed (so my lazy foster mom doesn’t have to get up at 3 am!). I have been doing really well at potty training, but I am still a super small puppy and sometimes I just gotta go before I hit the door to outside. However, my foster mom says I am doing the best at potty training and even ring the potty bell sometimes to go out. I love going potty outside, there are so many smells and places to go, and I know it makes my foster mom happy!
My super happy place is getting lots of belly rubs from my foster mom. I feel very connected to humans because they always give you free massages! I really love to play outside, and we have a ball pit to play in, lots of things to chew, and comfy beds to lay in the sun or shade. Inside, I have realized how much fun toys are, especially those ones that crinkle and squeak! I have even started playing with puzzle toys, although it takes all three of us to figure it out – team work!
We haven’t done a ton of training yet, because we are still so young. But I am learning “sit” and “down” with treats, and am working on name recognition and recall. We are also doing impulse control activities, and am learning to take treats nicely and to not nip and bite with my sharp puppy teeth. I have also learned that a quick “uh uh” means I am doing something sneaky and should probably stop, but of course I’m a puppy so I will probably try again anyway!
I am a very confident and curious girl, and am learning that asking permission by looking to mom is the way to live a good life. I really like being outside, and found that laying in the sun is a great activity. I have met kids of many ages and love them, they have so much energy! Mostly, I like to cuddle up with the other dogs or my foster mom, or with siblings, we just make a big pile of puppy love. My foster mom says that I am really smart, so I am looking forward to learning how to be a really good girl!
