Hi! I’m Birdie, but my foster parents call me all kinds of things like Bird, Bird girl, and Bird love! I live with my foster parents and doggie sister (a 1.5 year old 50 lb. pittie) and we have so much fun. My sister and I wrestle and play with toys all day and then we cuddle on the couch together when we want to nap. I’m super fast when I run around in the grass! I would love to run around in a big yard. One time I stayed with another foster family and had so much fun with their foster puppy and kids. I even helped their human daughter build a fort. It was a blast!
I give so many kisses and want to be pet and play fetch 100% of the time. I love to be outside. And those sprinkler things that water the grass? My favorite thing EVER! My foster parents try to keep me calm, but man, those things are the best!! I am working on my leash skills and will need someone to continue to teach me how to be the best pup I can be. I get really interested in those things called squirrels and birds and just cannot contain my excitement so I pull to try and play with them! My foster parents started using a “gentle leader” when we go on walks. At first, I really didn’t like it (I mean it’s strapped to my mouth, hello, no fun!) but now they tell me I walk like the best girl ever, so it’s growing on me!
When you come home to see me, I have to greet you with a bone or a ball to show you how much I love you. I won’t stop looking until I find the perfect toy! I am potty trained and let you know when I have to go by sitting, staring at you, and whining. I sleep in my crate all night long and don’t make a sound. I have so many good behaviors! I know how to “sit,” “shake,” “leave it,” “wait,” and “no.” I’m still working on “lay down” and “off,” but I don’t usually jump on people, although every once in a while I’ll check the counter out to see about those “snacks.”
I started my journey as a very sick girl with a nasty virus called parvo. Now I’m all healed up and ready to play, but my tummy still gets upset if I don’t stick to my normal diet. So please make sure I stick to that healthy routine diet until my stomach gets stronger.
My dream forever family will love to be outside and play fetch with me and then come home and snuggle on the couch or in bed. I also keep hearing about “training classes” where I can learn even more good behavior and meet other dogs! I would love to take some classes. Dogs and treats are my favorite!! Could you be my forever family?
