Female - 4 years old
Hello! My name is Sabra, which is Egyptian for patience. I recently was a mommy to a stunning set of seven chubby pups. My previous family gave me up because they couldn’t take care of me anymore when I was pregnant with my babies, so I came all the way up to Minnesota from New Mexico so that I could find a family who wants to love me for the rest of my life. Now that the kiddos have been launched, I am looking for my fur-ever home!
I currently live with two dogs, my foster brother and sister! I am doing so great with them. I wasn’t so sure about my foster sister when I first got here with my babies, but ever since they left we’ve been thick as thieves! Ok maybe not THAT close, but we can hang out around each other and ignore each other so I count that as a win. While we get along great, my foster mommy feeds me separately because I get super excited about food! When I first got here I was very skinny. These humans have been trying to fatten me up and I am not mad about it. I get all the good treats, I even sometimes get hot dogs… YUM!
My favorite hobby is giving my foster mom my undivided attention, and in return, I get treats and cuddles. I love sitting on her lap and giving her kisses, even when she doesn’t want them. We’ve been working on a ton of training which I love, because that means I get hot dogs! So far, I‘ve been mastering “sit“ and “leave it”, and working on some other things like “back” and not jumping. I used to beg for people food when my foster mom was eating, but I’ve learned not to do that. Since I’ve been getting plenty of food and treats, no begging is necessary. I already know all the basics, so if you are a lazy trainer that’s ok. I’ve been told I’m a very good listener!
I do great in my crate for the most part. I even sleep in there. It’s my safe space. My foster mom says I am a champion because I have had zero accidents in the house and walk nicely on a leash! I don’t get why that makes me so great, what kind of grown dog wants to potty in the house. But hey, I’ll take the praise and extra hot dogs!
Ideally, my forever family would have another dog that I can play with and follow around. I have not been around cats, so I’m not sure about them. I don’t live with kids, but have interacted with several of them. My foster mom told me I did great because I just cuddled and took treats very politely. Do you think you’re the right family for me? I can’t wait to meet you!
