Male - 1 years old
Hello, I’m Arlo! My best characteristics are my sweet gentle eyes and my beautiful blue coat. I LOVE stuffy/squeaky toys and will run and jump and play all day with them. Unfortunately, I was found with my siblings in pretty bad conditions, that was part of a suspected dog fighting ring.
I am mostly potty trained, I’m still working on it. I am SO good in my kennel and never make a peep or a pee pee in there. I sleep in my kennel, but I would probably really like to sleep with my humans at night. My foster family tells me there are too many other pets in the bed and it’s too crowded. At the moment, I’m working on “come”, “down”, and “shake”. I’m perfecting my “sit”, and doing well at “come”, but I definitely need to refine that. I would like to take some training classes. I still need to work on my walking, and in the last few days, my foster mom says I’m starting to get too mouthy, but she’s not mad about it. She knows that I didn’t get to be a puppy much when I was younger and that I probably lacked a lot of human interaction. Treats and human interaction really motivate me! It turns out I really, really like being around people that are loving.
I’ve met my 10-year-old neighbor and a couple of other kids in the age range. I currently live with cats and I do very well with them, but my foster kitty siblings don’t run much. My foster mom thinks I have a little bit of a prey drive, but I would do ok with a cat that isn’t scared and stands their ground. I currently live with a female 6-year-old Husky/Border Collie mix and a 3-year-old male Staffy/Beagle mix – they are both about 40 lbs. Me? I’m pretty submissive – I don’t like to cause any trouble. I like walking with my buddies and running around and doing zoomies in the backyard. I’ve played tuggie a bit too with one of my foster siblings and I thought that was pretty fun!
Here are some fun facts about me:
Q. Why are you the very best dog in the whole world?
A. I am the best dog because I just love people! I am so happy in the mornings when my foster mom wakes me up. She tells me it’s one of her favorite parts of her day too because I give gentle kisses and hugs as I stretch my way out of my kennel.
Q. Give me a description of your dream forever family.
A. My dream forever family is going to be a family that can dedicate exercise for me every day and consistency and lots of training. I love life so much now that I’m in a better place, but I’m also a big bobbling puppy at this point with a big head. I don’t know my own strength sometimes, so I need someone that will correct me when I’m wrong and show me what toys to play with, and help me to not jump on people.
Q. What are some of your favorite toys?
A. I love squeaky toys, but make sure you watch me when I finally kill that squeaker – my foster mom gets nervous I might accidentally swallow it.
Q. Play all day or cuddles and snoozes?
A. Play all day! But I crash pretty hard too.
Q. What would your dream day consist of?
A. My dream day would consist of a nice long walk in the morning, followed by some breakfast and sniffies in the backyard for a while. Rinse and repeat for the evening.
I would love to meet you!
