Female - 1 years old
Hi, I’m Mia! I have a very athletic build and very soft, velvety fur. I am lean and fast. I am very happy and wag my tail constantly. I am completely obsessed with playing fetch. If you won’t throw the ball for me, I will invent my own games with the ball – I have some very impressive moves!
I was a stray and was in the shelter for way too long. While I was in the shelter I developed “happy tail.” I do not know why it is called that, because there is nothing “happy” about it. My tail has been wrapped and is healing. I am very happy and wag my tail a lot, but the shelter was just too small for my big wags!
I am potty trained. I had one accident before I was shown where I am supposed to potty, now no more accidents! I am also kennel trained. I am currently sleeping in my kennel, because my foster family is usually home during the day. I am working on my manners; I can be a bit spunky and not always pay attention. I can sit, lay, shake and play fetch (I even drop the ball when you ask me to.) I would love to take training classes, I am really smart and would love to master some more tricks. Treats are the best way to motivate me to do tricks.
I have not been around kids, but I think I would be fine around kids that are a little older, especially if they would throw my ball for me. I think I would do best in a house with no other pets, as I like to be the center of attention. Right now I am living with my foster family’s two-year-old male pit bull, he stays upstairs and I am downstairs. We have been doing very slow introductions, but I just bark at him and don’t want anything to do with him, I really don’t care for other dogs, as I am a dominant gal and want to be the boss.
Since I was in the shelter for too long, I need a family that will take time to show me how to be the best dog in the world. I am very smart and pick up tricks fast. I am sweet and curious. I didn't start off very affectionate, but every day that I have built trust in my foster family I am becoming more and more cuddly.
I would love an active family that loves to go on adventures. I absolutely adore playing fetch and tug and I would love to have a fenced yard. I think I would be easy to train to use an automatic ball launcher – that would be so awesome! I love my soft spiky ball and my foster family made sure to buy some extras, so I can take them with me to my forever home. I also love a good tug toy
My dream day would consist of time spent with my family, lots of treats and fetch. Would love to meet you!
Update for Mia: I have been in my foster home for two weeks now. Wow, what a difference a week makes! I have a foster brother who I adore. I'm not great at reading his social queues, but my foster Mom & Dad are helping me figure that out. It's great having a family to play with and who I can trust. I am very happy and am enjoying giving cuddles and kisses. And there is happy news about my "happy tail!" I was able to keep a bandage on my tail long enough for it to heal up. Since I am in a happy place, I have not been wagging my tail as hard and frantic and I am hoping that my "happy tail" won't show up again. Life is good and I can't wait to find my forever family!
