Update on Zadie

Update on Zadie

Adopted: July, 2019

Dog’s former name: Zadie

What are the best things about your dog?
Zadie has no understanding of personal space, which leads to lots of cuddling and love. She’s also a very good girl and wants to please her family.

Tell us about your dogs favorite activities, sports or training:
Zadie got a fenced in yard just before the snow fell and now that it is Spring, she loves to be outside, rolling and zooming around in the grass. She also loves to go for walks and rides in the truck with dad.

How do people react to your “pit bull”?
Some people look worried when they meet her, but quickly realize she loves attention and is sweet. If you come to the front door and use the doorbell, she has a very hard time being quiet and settling down. We’re working on that 😉

Does your dog have any nicknames?
Z

FAST FIVE with Zadie

  1. Food: Piggy or picky? A little picky and maybe a little sensitive to some foods.
  2. Dog beds: Sleep on or unstuff? Loves her beds (and ours) but in the end sleeps most of the night in hers.
  3. Travel: Car rides or car sick? Car rides!
  4. Water: No way or splash all day? Lots of drinking and dripping.
  5. Seasons: A day in the sun or a day in the snow? Sun

Adopted: October 4, 2019

Dog’s former name: Peeta

What are the best things about your dog?
How much he loves our 7 yr old Sylvia. His calm demeanor and his black and white spots!

Tell us about your dogs favorite activities, sports or training:
He loves to run anytime he can. He is very food motivated, he is so responsive when working on training. He loves his walks each day.

Do you have any extraordinary adventures or accomplishments?
He was starting Puppy Training 3 the week of the shelter-in-place order. So we will go back to it if we haven’t covered it all at home by the time it starts up again.

How do people react to your “pit bull”?
Most people ask what breed he is. He doesn’t quite look like a pit, even being half Staffy. He is thick and long, so the dane, boxer and bulldog all show up in his appearance. Most people call him very handsome.

Does your dog have any nicknames?
Pick-lay, Piccalo, Boober, Bubba

FAST FIVE with Pickles

  1. Food: Piggy or picky? He likes his food… but he really likes it with a sprinkle of cheese
  2. Dog beds: Sleep on or unstuff? Sleep on

  4. Water: No way or splash all day? No way… he even avoids puddles!
  5. Seasons: A day in the sun or a day in the snow? Either

Update on Frances

Update on Frances

Adopted: November, 2019

Dog’s former name: Frances

What are the best things about your dog?
Her deep soulful eyes and unconditional love. She is a very curious girl, must be near us at all times and loves to cuddle. She will forever be a lap dog!

Tell us about your dogs favorite activities, sports or training:
Frances loves to go on walks and play with her stuffed toys. She is a fan of meeting new friends at the dog park and hanging out with her best friend, Hershey. Frances has mastered shake, sit and stay and does well with heal and halt. We are now working with her off-leash in the yard.

Do you have any extraordinary adventures or accomplishments?
Every day is an adventure with Frances! Graduating from her level one obedience class has been her greatest accomplishment so far. She made huge strides from the beginning to the end, even the trainers and entire class were very proud of her!

How do people react to your “pit bull”?
She gets many compliments on how adorable she is and how shiny her coat is. People think her name is the greatest! Frances is still learning that people are ok so she does keep her distance and sometimes let’s out a good bark.

Does your dog have any nicknames?
Frannie

FAST FIVE with Frances

  1. Food: Piggy or picky? She is such a piggy that we had to get her a slow-feeder.
  2. Dog beds: Sleep on or unstuff? Sometimes she lays in her bed but prefers the couch. At night she needs to be with us in bed, preferably under the covers.
  3. Travel: Car rides or car sick? Car rides are ok. Takes a bit for her to get comfortable. She loves to look out the window and watch the world go by!
  4. Water: No way or splash all day? Still waiting for warmer weather to introduce her to water.
  5. Seasons: A day in the sun or a day in the snow? She hasn’t had much outdoor sun time with us yet, waiting for warmer weather now that winter is over, but she does like to soak it up indoors when the cat shares with her. She loves playing in the snow!

Update on Buddy

Update on Buddy

Adopted: March, 2019

Dog’s former name: Porkchop

What are the best things about your dog?
Buddy was our fifth foster and our only foster-fail. Buddy was an immediate fit with our family. He is so adaptable to what’s going on around him. Want to hike for the day? Buddy is ready to go. If you want to chill and watch movies for the day, he’s the first one on the couch, saving his favorite spot. Buddy is a big, gentle teddy bear.

Tell us about your dogs favorite activities, sports or training:
Buddy loves to go for walks and he loves to relax on the couch and watch the squirrels. He watches America’s Funniest Home Videos every Sunday evening and barks at every animal.

Do you have any extraordinary adventures or accomplishments?
We have been able to continue to foster with Buddy. He needs slow introductions, as he can be quite jealous, but he always makes a new friend and is sad when his friends leave.

How do people react to your “pit bull”?
Buddy has no idea why people would be afraid of him. He loves everyone and considers everyone his best friend. We have worked with Buddy during the past year so he does not run up to people, but keeps his attention on us, so we can do a slow introduction. Everyone is surprised by Buddy’s sweet and gentle temperament.

Does your dog have any nicknames?
Bud, Budster, Budder

FAST FIVE with Buddy

  1. Food: Piggy or picky? Piggy!
  2. Dog beds: Sleep on or unstuff? Unstuff
  3. Travel: Car rides or car sick? Loves car rides, if he can have the front seat. If he’s in the back seat, he whines.
  4. Water: No way or splash all day? Not a fan of water, but mud is awesome!
  5. Seasons: A day in the sun or a day in the snow? Sunshine!
