Q: How do you volunteer your time specifically with Save-a-Bull?
I volunteer my time mainly through fostering and helping out with taking dogs to appointments during the week. My son is 6 and spends a lot of time with the pups too! He loves every minute of the snuggling, playing, and helping care for our fosters!
Q: How long have you been with Save-a-Bull?
I have been a foster for about 9 months now and have found each pup to be a new and rewarding experience!
Q: How did you learn about Save-a-Bull and what made you decide to volunteer?
I adopted through Save-a-Bull in November of 2014. Finn is now 2 ½ years old and a huge help with the puppies as well! He loves having fosters just as much as his humans do!
Q: What’s the most rewarding experience you’ve had as a volunteer so far?
The most rewarding, and tough, experience I’ve had as a volunteer came from caring for an elder pup at end-of-life. It was extremely rewarding to care for her and advocate for her comfort at end-of-life. My son was also very involved in her medical care and it taught him a great lesson about death and dying. He still talks about her today! Seeing the impact it has on my son has been amazing and extremely rewarding!
Q: Do you have any dogs of your own?
Finn (originally Huck) 2 ½ years old, adopted in November 2014 from Save-a-Bull
Q: What do you do for work? For fun?
I am a registered nurse in the ICU and ER, and currently in grad school to become a nurse practitioner. I love taking dogs who need medical care and caring for them! My son, Finn, and myself love spending the summers at the cabin and in the lake! We learned quickly that pits can swim and will swim far out when they want to!
