Q: How do you volunteer your time specifically with Save-a- Bull?
I am a full time foster with Save-a-Bull. My resident dog is pretty chill, so he can handle puppies, teenage dogs and the somewhat testy adults. I also help out with events when I can. Recently I’ve been sending out the apparel orders when they come in (sorry I cram so much in a package), pull together gift baskets occasionally for silent auctions, coordinated the silent auctions for the past two Rescue Runs, and spending as much money as I can at craft fairs and every event we sell stuff!

Q: How long have you been with Save-a- Bull?
I started fostering in February of 2013, so about three and a half years

Q: How did you learn about Save-a-Bull and what made you decide to volunteer?
I was in a group at my work called The BowWows with (fellow volunteer) Danielle Fleenor and we did a tour of Golden Valley Humane Society along with volunteering and cleaning out two of their supply rooms. During the tour, I learned from Danielle about Minneapolis Animal Care & Control and Save-a-Bull and I decided I needed to do something.

Q: What’s the most rewarding experience you’ve had as a volunteer so far?
Five of my fosters have been adopted by friends of mine. It’s always a wonderful feeling to adopt a dog out to a loving home, but when it’s someone you already know personally, it’s even better. I’ve also made many new friends through Save-a-Bull!

Q: Do you have any dogs of your own?
I have a 7 year old Black Lab/English Springer Spaniel mix that I acquired as a puppy as a result of owners that didn’t believe in fixing their animals. He is the best snuggle buddy ever and he has his own Facebook page – Cena the amazing foster brother.

Q: What do you do for work? For fun?
I work for Target Corporation as a Lead Data Management Strategy Analyst, with my major project as project manager for building an enterprise metadata repository (data dictionary of all data at Target). For fun I like to do volunteer work, play bingo and sing karaoke. Sometimes throughout the year I actually an a Karaoke Jockey and host karaoke at the Richfield VFW.
