Q: How do you volunteer your time specifically with Save-a-Bull?
I am the events manager for the rescue. With the help of all of our awesome volunteers, I get to plan and execute fundraising events for the rescue. Right now, we are working on planning our 2017 Summer Brewery Tour.
Q: How long have you been with Save-a-Bull?
I started volunteering with the rescue September 2016 after attending the brewery tour all last summer. My boyfriend and I got to know a lot of people in the rescue and I knew I wanted to use my previous event experience to help give back. A month later, I took on the role of events manager and haven’t looked back!
Q: How did you learn about Save-a- Bull and what made you decide to volunteer?
I heard about Save-a-Bull when we were looking to adopt a dog. We looked at a few rescues in the Twin Cities and decided Save-a-Bull felt like the right fit. After adopting our dog, Quincy, in April 2015, we saw how passionate the rescue was about their dogs. I knew it would be the right fit for me once I graduated from the U of M and had time to give. The volunteers are so passionate about helping the pups we serve and we have so much fun when we are all together, even outside of rescue events. Also, having puppy snuggles whenever you want is definitely high on the list of perks!
Q: What’s the most rewarding experience you’ve had as a volunteer so far?
So far, the most rewarding experience has been our 2017 annual bake sale we did in February. It was our first big event of the year and seeing all the hours of hard work pay off was so awesome! We had a great crowd at Urban Tails and had great support from our awesome volunteers! So much of what I do for the rescue, wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers and it was great to have such a strong presence in the community on that Saturday.
Q: Do you have any dogs of your own?
Yes! We adopted a blind pit named Quincy in April of 2015 from Save-a-Bull. He has taught us a lot about life, trust, patience, and perseverance. We are so thankful we get to be his people!
Q: What do you do for work? For fun?
I am a facilities coordinator for a software and services company in Edina. For fun, I like to hang out with my pup, read, watch/play hockey, travel to see my sister in Colorado, and spend time with my friends and family!
