Meet Lilly and Judge

Meet Lilly and Judge

Lilly was adopted by Josh and Katie Rushlo in April 2015 and Judged joined the family in May 2016. They make a perfect pair; Lilly is cautious and reserved while Judge is carefree and outgoing and helps Lilly cope with scary situations. Lilly loves to snuggle at home with her teenage human sister while Judges likes going for car rides. They spend their days together chasing balls in the yard, lounging in the sun and sharing a snuggly blanket in front of the TV.

Lilly and Judge are featured in our 2018 Save-a-Bull calendar, photos by Tangerine House of Design.

Update on Willie

Update on Willie

Adopted May, 2017

Dog’s former name: Willie

What are the best things about your dog?
He is a total goofball and a charmer. I talk to him constantly. He is just so happy to be included in everything that we do. He will also follow me all over and eats up all the attention.

Tell us about your dogs favorite activities, sports or training:
He is learning to play fetch at the moment; slowly figuring out this “whole drop the ball thing”, but he will at least bring it back and give it up. He loves to play with his big sister, Ruby; they play all day long.

Do you have any extraordinary adventures or accomplishments?
We are still working on his boundary issues. When Willie first claimed the yard he didn’t even like people walking on the other side of the street. He has now gotten used to the sounds of the neighborhood and people walking around. We are still working on people walking next to the fence. Fingers crossed by the end of the summer that will be a thing of the past.

How do people react to your “pit bull”?
Willie is very muscular. People always comment on how big he is, but once they get to meet him they see his Scooby-Doo side also.

Does your dog have any nicknames?
When he is being really goofy I call him Scooby-Doo (he has a very Scooby goofball mentalit).

FAST FIVE with Willie

1. Food: Piggy or picky? Total pig – Steals from his sister’s bowl all the time.

2. Dog beds: Sleep on or unstuff? Sleep on – He loves pillows.

3. Travel: Car rides or car sick? He is a little wobbly on car rides yet – Just stands there like he is trying to figure out his sea legs.

4. Water: No way or splash all day? Total water baby.

5. Seasons: A day in the sun or a day in the snow? I call him my little polar bear. There is nothing like fresh powder zoomies.

Update on Lucy

Adopted June 21, 2017

Dog’s former name: Lucy

What are the best things about your dog?
Snuggles! She is the most cuddly dog I have ever met in my life! She loves unconditionally and always wants to be part of the fun.

Tell us about your dogs favorite activities, sports or training:
Lucy loves long walks, like long long walks. For a while she had us fooled we thought she was so out of shape as she would start to slow down as we neared our house but we found whether we take her on a 2 or 10 mile walk she always slows down at the same place. She is recently starting to love fetch as well!

How do people react to your “pit bull”?
Everyone in our neighborhood LOVES her, because of Lucy we have met a lot new neighbors. She has also won over her grandma and and a few others who were a little apprehensive when they first saw her.

Does your dog have any nicknames?
Lucy Lu, LuLuLaRue, fluffer nutter, Woo Woo and many more.

FAST FIVE with Lucy

1. Food: Piggy or picky? Piggy

2. Dog beds: Sleep on or unstuff? The softer the better!

3. Travel: Car rides or car sick? Car rides

4. Water: No way or splash all day? Splash all day

5. Seasons: A day in the sun or a day in the snow? Major sun seeker

Update on Hazel

Adopted June, 2018

Dog’s former name: Hazel

What are the best things about your dog?
She is the happiest girl. She is always so excited to greet us! And she loooves her fur brother. She really is the life of the party around our house.

Tell us about your dogs favorite activities, sports or training:
Hazel loves to play in the backyard, so much so that we have to chase her to get her to come inside. She likes to go on walks and play with squeaky toys. And she likes to chase birds and other critters in the year. She finished three levels of obedience training at the Animal Humane Society.

Do you have any extraordinary adventures or accomplishments?
We have fostered a few puppies and she is just the best with them. She comes on a little strong, but she wins them over because she is such a good playmate.

How do people react to your “pit bull”?
When people see her, they don’t really think she looks like a “pit bull”. She is such a friendly girl.

Does your dog have any nicknames?
